Sunday 1st November 2015 - Beijing Special #3
The Great Wall of China is quite obviously a priority when in Beijing. However, had I known that a) a cable car is the only way to access the wall and b) it would be really bloody windy, I would have been a lot more difficult to drag out of the hotel room that morning. Cable cars are no fun for somebody with a fear of heights, so you can imagine the state both myself and my equally-scaredy-cat Mother were in when the wind started whipping us about. We must have looked like rather a sorry sight, holding hands with our eyes shut, ha.
Things were a lot more enjoyable when we escaped from the cable/death car. It really is incredible how long and curly the wall is. If you ever get the chance to go, you must. It’s even more incomprehensible when you’re actually standing there. How the flipping heck did they manage to build such a colossal structure when I can’t even make an IKEA flat pack bed without weeping?
