Coming from the UK where steel and iron are the reigning kings of construction, I think it's totally acceptable to admit that I used to leap across the street fearing for my life when first encountering Hong Kong's bamboo scaffolding. I mean, it's a bit unnerving to look at isn't it. Especially when it's supporting sky scrapers 658309432 floors high. And also, that the builders swing around on it like they are immune to fear and drop it pole-by-pole down onto the really busy pavement below them.

I know people say it's strong and blah blah blah. But that doesn't mean I feel any safer.
